These fully trained doctors are gaining experience in general practice at the surgery under the supervision of one of the partners. They are usually with us for six months. To help in training a videotape may be taken of some consultations. You will always be informed in advance if this is taking place and you can decline to take part if you wish. THE PRACTICE TEAM
Practice Nurses We have an excellent team of experienced nurses who are involved in managing a wide range of health problems. The four general nurses are Sister Maire Harrison, Sister Michelle Pickles, Sister Andrea Moore and Sister Nicky Rhodes. Health Care Assistants We have three Health Care Assistants, June Ward, Jane Wallbank and Vicky Moorby working in the practice who have all undergone special training to assist our qualified nurses in a range of duties including: testing urine specimens, new patient checks, ECGs, taking blood pressure and health promotion. Practice/Reception Managers Mr David Lumsden is the practice manager, responsible for the overall running of the surgery. Mrs Angela Spencer is responsible for the organisation of reception and appointments. Receptionists We hope you find our receptionists friendly and efficient. They have the difficult job of keeping both doctors and patients happy. All our staff receive training and appreciate the need to fully protect confidentiality.Secretarial/Administrative Staff Sharon Chisnall leads a team who assist us with our secretarial and administrative requirements. District Nurses The district nursing team provides full community nursing services including care for the terminally ill at home. See Useful Numbers for contact details. Midwives A team of midwives will co-ordinate maternity care, running antenatal clinics in Dyneley Barn. Contact them on: (01756) 799831. Health Visitors Our attached health visitors work primarily with families and young children. They are also involved with health promotion/education. Contact them on: (01756) 790042. Practice Counsellors We employ two part-time counsellors who can help patients with a range of emotional and psychological problems. Your GP can refer you to see them if appropriate. Practice Pharmacist We employ a pharmacist who assists our staff and patients. She helps update repeat medication after hospital discharge and also reviews some patients on complex or multiple drugs. Her phone-in is available for medication queries. |
